59 Why do people worship guru similar to the way they worship God?

Due to our unwanted mundane desires we are not eligible to get Kṛṣṇa’s mercy directly. Since Kṛṣṇa is very merciful and wants us to attain Him, He sends His representatives (Śrī Guru) to us. Kṛṣṇa’s mercy is appearing to us in the condensed form of Śrī Guru. Therefore we worship guru as God’s expansion of mercy.

60 How do we receive guru’s mercy?

In Sanskrit, mercy is called kṛpa. Whatever happens to be the guru’s desire for our spiritual progress, according to his guidance we should follow his instructions and thereby become recipients of his mercy. The inner meaning of the word kṛpa implies that our activities are favorable to the object of our service, which in this case are activities that please the guru.
